Spring is in the air in Western Washington! We have had an absolutely gorgeous week. I'm sure more rain is in our future but it has been so nice to be able to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. And nicer weather means more opportunities for pictures outside! The kids and I went exploring at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma today. These photos were taken at the Japanese Garden and the Logging Museum. I love the train track photos. I'm anxious to take some clients there.

A couple of business things:

My weekends are currently booked until April 19 (with the exception of this upcoming weekend). I do have weekday availability in March.

Don't forget about my baby special - it ends next week! I'm also planning to add a "Baby's First Year Portrait Package" in the next week or so.

And now for some more photos from last week in Seattle.

A day off school + clear skies + everyone healthy = a fun day in Seattle all documented by a MWAC (Mom with a Camera).

And a little bit of personal trivia. I worked at the Spaghetti Factory in college (circa 1989!). I hated it. We worked our tails off for small tips and I spent many hours scooping butter and spumoni ice cream. I couldn't even stand the smell of the place and I swore I'd never step foot in one again. But today the kids were hungry, it was right across the street from where we were and I knew the kids would like it. I will report that it still smells the same, the menu is the same and they still know how to make pretty good spaghetti.

Look at what Federal Express brought to my house today:

A canvas for my walls! It is 18"x24" and just gorgeous. I imagine this is the first of many I will order. The question is how many canvases are too many for one house???

I've been stuck at home with sick kids for the past week which has given me the chance to get some of my family photos processed. I am way behind in that area and it feels good to make a dent in the backlog.

Here are a few of my favorites images. I used to always want to take a perfect posed picture of my kids. Those are still nice to have, but I've found that the photos I love the most are the real ones like these. I think as the years go by I'll be drawn to the photos that capture the essence of my kids rather than the ones that simply record how they looked.

I had so much fun with these three kids. I wanted to borrow them for a couple of days.

February Special

Bring me the babies! I want to spend this month photographing little ones indoors. The unpredictability of the weather these days is making it next to impossible to schedule outdoor sessions. So, I'm looking to do more indoor work until it dries up a bit.

February Baby Special

Half of a session fee ($50)
One free 8x10 from the session

Details
:

* This session must take place during the month of February. You will need to pay your sitting fee when you book to hold your date.

* The primary focus of the session will be the baby - this is not a family session. I may take some family photos but it won't be my focus.

* Any age of baby is fine but my rule is he/she can't be walking. If your baby is walking, wait for a toddler special.

* And last thing is that to qualify for the special you must be willing to sign a model release form allowing me to publish these photos on my website.

Typically indoor sessions take place in your home providing you have enough light. The most flattering light for portraits is natural light so I avoid using flash as much as possible. What I'm looking for in your home is large window, or glass door with a sizeable amount of open sky. The window needs to not have any large trees or buildings blocking the light. If you are unsure about the lighting in your home, I can conduct a light evaluation before the session. If you don't feel your home has enough natural light, the session can also take place in my home which has quite a bit of nice light.
